Vallejo Man Suspected Of Stealing 31 Cars, Running 'Chop-Shop'

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A Vallejo man suspected of stealing 31 vehicles was arrested by California Highway Patrol officers on Thursday evening, CHP officials said.

Mikeal Dupree Dennard, 33, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Mahogany Drive following a two-week investigation by the CHP and the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office, according to the CHP.

During the investigation they discovered that Dennard was allegedly operating a chop shop in Vallejo and had an outstanding probation violation warrant issued out of Solano County, CHP officials said.

Investigators recovered vehicles that had been stolen from West Contra Costa County, Vallejo, and San Jose, according to the CHP.

Dennard was booked in the Solano County Jail with bail set at $300,000.
