A's Braden Out For Season After Shoulder Surgery

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) - The Oakland Athletics announced that Dallas Braden is expected to miss the rest of the year. The diagnosis came after Braden had surgery Tuesday to repair a torn capsule in his left throwing shoulder.

The operation was performed in New York by Dr. David Altchek, medical director of the Mets. The question now is whether Braden will be ready by the 2012 season.

Braden was 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA this season but is known best for pitching a perfect game against Tampa Bay last season. He was put on the disabled list April 17, a day after he pitched five scoreless innings at Detroit but left early due to a stiff left shoulder.
