OAKLAND (CBS SF) – A driver was killed in Oakland Tuesday afternoon when a van went off the roadway and hit a tree near northbound Interstate Highway 880, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The on-ramp was closed for about 45 minutes while emergency crews responded to the accident, but traffic was flowing again by about 3:35 p.m., Van Eckhardt said.
The van was a 1991 gray Oldsmobile Silhouette, he said.
