SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – A taxi driver was slashed in the hand while being robbed in San Francisco’s Bayview District early Saturday morning, police said.

The robbery occurred at about 2 a.m. while the cab was traveling along Evans Street.

The passenger told the 54-year-old cabbie to pull over, then held a knife to his throat and demanded money, according to police.

The victim handed over his cash, and suffered a cut to his hand while trying to shield his throat from the knife, police said. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for the injury, which is not considered life-threatening.

The suspect got out of the cab and ran away. He had not been found as of Monday morning, according to police.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.

This happens a lot in Asian country, so what they did was to put a fence between the rear passenger and the driver. That fence could’ve prevent this incident from happening, it might only cost the cab company a few hundreds bucks to do and I am pretty sure the cab driver will even take money out from their pocket to put that on. Because safety is pricelss

Cab drivers need to do a little racial profiling of their own.

    1. Steve Crowell says:

INTENTION PROFILING is what they need to do. Don’t reject for skin color, reject for appearance of ill intent.
