(CBS 5) – There’s a lot more to your home than what is behind the front door. Michael McGowan of San Francisco asked this Good Question: Whose responsibility is it to maintain the sidewalk in front of my home?
ANSWER: According to Ed Reiskin, director of the San Francisco Department of Public Works, in most cases the sidewalk up to the curb is the responsibility of the homeowner. In San Francisco, the city assumes responsibility for the curb and the street. This may vary from city to city. Reiskin estimates that 60 to 70 percent of homeowners think the sidewalks are the city’s responsibility.
