Man, Woman Found Shot Dead Outside Richmond Apartment

RICHMOND (KCBS) – A long-simmering turf war may be reigniting in Richmond, where two shootings on Sunday night left two people dead and two others hospitalized.

Police responded to the first shooting around 9:45, on the 200 block of Gertrude Avenue. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found a 23-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was taken to a local hospital.

Shortly thereafter, there were reports of another shooting, this time on Bissell Avenue. Richmond police found two victims lying on the sidewalk. The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene and another woman was found suffering from gunshot wounds.  She was also taken to a local hospital.

KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:

Richmond Police Lieutenant Bisa French said that although they are still investigating the incidents, they may be part of a feud between two groups in North and Central Richmond.

"There seems to be something going on between the two areas right now," she said. "We're looking to get to the bottom of what's going on. We have our gang units trying to gather intel to figure out what the feud is about and who the players involved in that feud are."

Sunday's incidents follow a spate of shootings on July 3, which left three people dead and three others injured. French said investigators are unsure if the shootings are related in anyway.
