Mountain Lion Spotted In Portola Valley

PORTOLA VALLEY (CBS SF) - A mountain lion was seen Monday night in Portola Valley, San Mateo County emergency officials said.

The cat was spotted near the 4700 block of Alpine Road, in the area of Willowbrook Drive, at about 9:20 p.m.

Residents are advised to keep an eye on small children and avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk or night when mountain lions are most active.

Anyone who encounters a mountain lion should face the animal, make noise, and try to appear larger by waving arms and throwing rocks, emergency officials said.
