Raiders Kicker Janikowski Charged With Battery, False Imprisonment Following Alleged Assault

WALNUT CREEK (AP) -- Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski has been charged with misdemeanor battery and false imprisonment in connection with the alleged assault of a woman in Contra Costa County last year.

Details of the alleged assault are not clear. According to court records, the woman reported that the 33-year-old Janikowski violated her personal liberty and used force against her on Sept. 24, 2010 in Walnut Creek.

A call to Walnut Creek police on Saturday by The Associated Press was not immediately returned. The District Attorney's Office was closed.

The woman did not report the alleged attack at the time, and Janikowski was not arrested then.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of 18 months behind bars and a $3,000 fine.
