New Allegations Leveled Against SF Mayor's Campaign

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) - City Attorney Dennis Herrera and other mayoral candidates are calling on the district attorney to investigate new money laundering allegations against supporters of Mayor Ed Lee's mayoral campaign.

Herrera, who is running against Lee in the mayoral election next week, also wants the state Fair Political Practices Commission to review the charges.

The San Francisco Chronicle said it obtained an email indicating that a city landlord directed employees to donate to Lee's election campaign. The workers were allegedly told they would be reimbursed for their contributions.

It's the third time Lee's political opponents have asked the district attorney to investigate alleged wrongdoing by Lee's supporters.

Lee—who is the frontrunner in next Tuesday's election—has repeatedly welcomed the investigations.
