NorCal Mother Accused Of Slashing Teen Son's Neck

RED BLUFF,  Tehama County (CBS/AP) -- A Tehama County woman is in custody for allegedly giving her 13-year-old son an overdose of pills and slashing his throat with a knife.

40-yearold Theresa Marie Garcia-Lewis was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder and felony child abuse.

Red Bluff police found the boy after they received a call reporting that he had a cut on his neck and had possibly overdosed on an unknown medication. He was flown to a Chico hospital where his condition was not known, the Record Searchlight said.

Investigators think Garcia-Lewis gave her son a potentially-lethal amount of pills on Monday and then again on Tuesday before his neck was slashed.

She is being held at the Tehama County jail on $550,000 bail, but has not yet obtained a lawyer, a jail official said.
