49ers Playoff Tickets Sell Out In Minutes

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Tickets to the first San Francisco 49ers playoff game at Candlestick Park in nine years, went quickly.

A limited amount of tickets for the general public went on sale Tuesday morning and were sold out almost instantly.

"We released a small number of seats yesterday for season ticket holders, to give them the first opportunity, and that sold out in 10 minutes," said Paraag Marthe, chief operating officer for the team.

KCBS' Mark Seelig Reports:

The 49ers have surprised many with their 13-3 record, which earned them a 'bye' in the first round of the playoffs this weekend. The 49ers will await the results of the NFL Wild Card weekend of games to determine who plays in Candlestick on January 14 - plenty of time, according to Marathe, to get the 49er Faithful worked into a lather.

"The Bay Area is clamoring for 49ers football in January, and we're excited to deliver it," he said.

If you missed out on game tickets, there's still a chance to snap some up by visiting the NFL ticket exchange, the only authorized reseller of game tickets. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, you could try ticket dealers and Craigslist.
