2 Women Brutally Attacked In SF Sunset District Home Invasion

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Two women were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries from an apparent home invasion and attack in San Francisco's Sunset District Thursday night, according to San Francisco police.

Police responded to the 1700 block of 20th Avenue at 9:20 p.m. regarding a possible aggravated assault, police said.

Arriving officers found two victims, both Asian women - a 76-year-old and a 56-year-old. Both had been attacked by a suspect described as an Asian male who fled in a light-colored sedan, said police Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:

The weapon used in the attack is not known.

The 56-year-old had arrived at the residence of the 76-year-old to deliver food and apparently interrupted an attack on the 76-year-old, said Andraychak.

The 56-year-old was also attacked but managed to escape and get help, said Andraychak. Both were taken by ambulance to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the scene and has not been found.

Anyone with information on the assaults is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
