Peninsula Coastal Child Care Facilities Burglarized

HALF MOON BAY (CBS SF) - Between Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning suspects broke into and ransacked a Half Moon Bay children's center and an El Granada preschool, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Sometime between 3:45 p.m. Sunday and 6:50 a.m. Monday suspects forced entry into the Coastside Child Development Center, located at 565 Redondo Beach Road in Half Moon Bay, by prying open a locked window, sheriff's deputies said.

Once inside the thieves took a computer and a box filled with children's medication, sheriff's officials said.

In another commercial break-in, suspects forced their way into the Picasso Preschool at 480 Alhambra Ave. in El Granada between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 7:20 a.m. Monday. The suspects ransacked the building and took several personal items and computer equipment, sheriff's officials said.

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call San Mateo County Sheriff's Detective Jim Gilletti at (650) 363-4066 or an anonymous tip line at (800) 547-2700.
