Janitor At South San Francisco Biotech Firm Arrested For Laptop Thefts

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A janitor on contract at a South San Francisco biotechnology company has been arrested on suspicion of stealing dozens of laptop computers from his workplace earlier this month, South San Francisco police said Wednesday.

On Feb. 7, South San Francisco police were notified about an employee who had allegedly stolen 41 laptop computers.

Through an investigation in which police worked with the company's security team, investigators recovered three laptops and one projector, according to police.

They determined that the remaining computers had either been sold or shipped to family members living out of the country, police said.

The employee, Dionisio Dauz, 33, of San Francisco, was arrested and booked into the main jail in Redwood City on several theft-related charges, police said.

Police did not release the name of the company.
