USF Women Stun No. 23 BYU On The Road

PROVO, Utah (CBS / AP) -- Jamie Katuna scored 21 points and Rheina Ale added 17 points and six rebounds as San Francisco upset No. 23 BYU 71-64 on Thursday night.

Katy Keating had 14 points and made four 3-pointers for the Dons (5-22, 3-11 West Coast), who had lost 10 of its previous 11 contests.

Kristen Riley had 16 points and Haley Steed 15 for the Cougars (22-5, 10-3), who returned to the Top 25 this week but could have a short stay.

Steed had a three-point play and 3-point shot to get BYU within 65-64, but San Francisco went 8 for 8 from the free-throw line in the final 29 seconds to protect its lead. Katuna and Ale made four foul shots each.

A 15-0 run over a 4:32 stretch of the second half gave the Dons a 52-39 cushion. Katuna and Mel Khlok had four points each during the surge.

Khlok finished with 12 points.
