Feds Bust Ecstasy Ring Linked To Bay Area Rap Label

VALLEJO (CBS / AP) -- Several rappers connected to a Bay Area music label are being charged with taking part in a nationwide Ecstasy ring.

Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that investigators had seized 45,000 Ecstasy pills along with crack cocaine and heroin tied to the Vallejo-based drug trafficking operation.

The Contra Costa Times reports that many of the suspects are associated with Thizz Entertainment, a popular label on the Bay Area's rap scene. "Thizz" is slang for the feeling of being high on Ecstasy.

KCBS' Doug Sovern Reports:

U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner said 25 suspects from various California cities as well as New York and Oklahoma City were arrested Thursday.

Prosecutors say federal agents uncovered a Vallejo-based distribution operation that trafficked in Ecstasy, cocaine, heroin, Oxycodone and marijuana.
