4-Year-Old Girl Hurt In Concord Hit & Run

CONCORD (CBS SF) - A four-year-old girl suffered major injuries to her foot when she was hit by a truck that then fled the scene of the collision in Concord on Tuesday, police said.

Police responded to reports that a child had been hit by a car on Sixth Street just north of Clayton Road at around 6:30 p.m.

They found the girl in the road in front of 3203 Sixth St. and she was transported to Children's Hospital in Oakland with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Police said an investigation suggested that the girl had entered the road and then been struck by the truck, which was traveling south on Sixth Street.

The vehicle's driver left the scene without stopping, driving down Clayton Road, police said.

The truck was described as a newer model light blue pickup truck with oversized tires and no camper shell. There was possible damage to the right headlight area of the truck.

Police were asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Concord police at (925) 671-3311 ext. 4365.
