SJ Youth Sports Referee Jailed Over Alleged Relationship With Girl, Father Assault

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A youth sports referee from San Jose was arrested Thursday on suspicion of having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year old girl, then attacking the girl's father with his car in Monterey County last week, sheriff's officials said.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office says that Scott Domnauer, 49, met a 14-year-old girl on a social media website and developed a relationship that included sending her pornography and buying her a cellphone for their conversations.

The sheriff's office said it was tipped off to the alleged inappropriate relationship by the girl's parents and began investigating the case on May 7.

Then on May 18, deputies responded to reports that Domnauer had gone to the family's home and rammed his Dodge van into a car owned by the girl's father's, who was in the driver's seat of the car, according to the sheriff's office.

After ramming the father's car, Domnauer fled the scene but he was eventually found and arrested by deputies at his San Jose home at about 3:10 p.m. Thursday.

He is currently being held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex offense, sheriff's officials said.

Domnauer has refereed youth sports in Santa Clara, Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties, sheriff's Sgt. Ken Anderson said.
