Person Hit By, Trapped Under SF Muni Streetcar

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man who became trapped under a San Francisco Municipal Railway streetcar on Market Street Friday morning apparently fell when he attempted to board while the vehicle was still moving, a Muni spokesman said.

The rider fell under the inbound F-Market & Wharves streetcar at Seventh and Market streets shortly before 10 a.m., Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.

The victim, a male, was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Rose said.

KCBS' Anna Duckworth Reports:

Buses carried passengers between 11th Street and the Ferry Building until the accident was cleared from the area shortly after 11 a.m.

The driver has been put on non-driving status while the incident is investigated, which is standard Muni policy, Rose said.
