BOLINAS (CBS SF) — A San Francisco man suffered major injuries when he lost control of his motorcycle on state Highway 1 north of Bolinas Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Oscar Bruening, 32, was riding his yellow 2005 Suzuki motorcycle north on Highway 1 just south of Fairfax-Bolinas Road around 10:50 a.m. when the crash occurred, according to CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister.

At a curve in the roadway, Bruening lost control and drifted into the southbound lane, striking the left front side of a 2004 Honda Accord driven by a 42-year-old Pacifica man, Hohmeister said.

The impact threw Bruening from his motorcycle and into the left side of a 2000 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by a 31-year-old San Anselmo woman. He landed in the roadway with a broken femur, a cut on his back and abrasions.

Bruening was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek by helicopter around 11:25 a.m. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening, Hohmeister said.

The driver of the Accord, Yuri Desyatnik, suffered an abrasion on his left arm but declined medical treatment, and a female passenger and child in the car were not injured. The Toyota held five child passengers, but none of them were injured.

The accident closed state Highway 1 in both directions for around an hour.
