Crews Rescue 4 People From Water Off SF Ocean Beach

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Four people were rescued from the water off San Francisco's Ocean Beach Wednesday, a Golden Gate National Recreation Area spokesman said.

The people were reported in the water shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and U.S. Park Police, the U.S. Coast Guard and the San Francisco Fire Department responded, park spokesman Howard Levitt said.

A Coast Guard official said by the time the Coast Guard responded, lifeguards had already rescued them.

By 5:50 p.m. the people were on the beach being checked by fire department medics, Levitt said. Their exact condition was unknown, but "it appears to be a successful rescue," Levitt said.
