Gardener Finds Suspicious Device Near San Francisco's Panhandle

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A bomb squad determined that a suspicious device found near the Panhandle in San Francisco Monday morning is harmless, a police spokesman said.

A gardener found the object in the area of Central Avenue and Oak Street and called police at 9:02 a.m., San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza said.

The bomb squad arrived and determined within half an hour that there was no threat, and the scene was cleared, he said.
