2 Cars Burned In Pinole, Rodeo Area

RODEO (CBS SF) -- Firefighters responded to two separate car fires overnight in Pinole and Rodeo, the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District chief said.

The first fire was reported in Rodeo at 12:21 a.m. at First Street and Rodeo Avenue, said Chief Charles Hanley, who also heads the Pinole Fire Department.

Arriving crews found an apparently abandoned vehicle engulfed in flames.

Less than four hours later, at 4:04 a.m., crews responded to a second car fire in the 2600 block of Emma Drive in a residential area of Pinole, Hanley said.

Crews found a Dodge Challenger on fire. The blaze was extinguished quickly, he said.

No injuries were reported in either fire, and no structures were damaged.

Hanley said the two fires did not appear to be connected.
