Woman Arrested In El Granada Abalone Shell Attack

EL GRANADA (CBS SF) - A San Mateo County woman from the coastal town of El Granada was arrested Sunday after she allegedly hit her sister-in-law on the head with an abalone shell, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

Deputies responded to reports of a domestic dispute in the 600 block of The Alameda just before 11 p.m.

The suspect, 49-year-old Angel Garcia, was apparently arguing with her sister-in-law over living arrangements, Lt. Larry Schumaker said.

At some point during the dispute, Garcia allegedly came up behind her sister-in-law and hit her twice on the head with an abalone shell, Schumaker said.

The victim refused medical treatment, though deputies reported she was left with a lump on her head, according to the sheriff's office.

Garcia was cited for misdemeanor assault and released.
