San Francisco Noe Valley Fire Causes $400K In Damage
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A two-alarm fire in San Francisco's Noe Valley neighborhood on Monday afternoon caused more than $400,000 in damage to two residential buildings, a fire department spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The blaze was reported around 2:35 p.m. at a three-story building that contains two units, 280 and 282 Jersey St., fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
The flames spread to an adjacent building, 276-278 Jersey St., before being extinguished at 3:22 p.m., Talmadge said.
The fire caused an estimated $151,000 in damage to the first building and destroyed about $77,000 worth of contents. The adjacent building sustained about $132,000 in structural damage and $63,000 in damage to its contents, according to Talmadge.
She said the American Red Cross responded to the scene but the residents of the four units declined assistance. No one was injured in the blaze, she said.
The fire also caused nearby electrical wires to fall, prompting PG&E to shut off power to the lines.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
