Sausalito Arrests Lead To Stolen Car, Burglary Tools

SAUSALITO (CBS SF) -- Two men were arrested for attempted grand theft auto and for possession of burglary tools at the Sausalito ferry terminal Sunday, police said.

A Golden Gate staff member reported two men who were loitering around the bicycle racks at Tracy Way and El Portal Street about 3:50 p.m. to Sausalito police.

The employee was concerned that the two men were attempting to steal bicycles, police said.

Officers responded to the area and made contact with 39-year-old Christopher Burgess, of San Francisco, who initially provided police with a false name. A short time later, police located 45-year-old George Lee of Santa Clara, who was hiding under a hedge in Gabrielson Park, according to police.

Both suspects were found to have cable cutters in their possession, police said.

Lee also had keys to a Subaru stolen from San Francisco in his possession. The Subaru was located in a nearby parking lot and had stolen license plates taken from Santa Clara, police said.

Lee was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools and attempted grand theft, police said.

Burgess was arrested for possession of burglary tools, attempted grand theft and providing false identification to police.

Police said both suspects had a history of theft arrests. Bail for Lee was set at $25,000 and bail for for Burgess was set at $10,000.
