Water Main Break Shuts Down San Francisco Street

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco Public Utilities Commission crews were at the scene of a water main break in the city's Sunset District Monday afternoon, a utility spokeswoman said.

Repairs to an underground pipe should be completed by 5 p.m., according to the city's Public Utilities Commission.

Crews responded around noon to the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Ortega Street, where a 1-inch service line began leaking water down Ninth Avenue, according to SFPUC spokeswoman Suzanne Gautier.

KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:

SFPUC crews were still investigating what caused the leak. There were no reports of damage, and Gautier could not confirm whether water service was disrupted by the incident.

Police said that Ninth Avenue was shut down between Ortega and Pacheco streets because of the leak.
