Infant Dies At San Rafael Childcare Center

SAN RAFAEL (CBS/AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy who was found unresponsive at a San Rafael child care center last month.

Staff at the Magic Place Children's Center at 1055 Las Ovejas Drive in San Rafael found the infant unresponsive at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 23, according to the Marin County coroner's office.

He was taken by paramedics to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Terra Linda, where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner's office conducted an autopsy the next day but results have not yet come back and the cause of death has not been determined.

The death is being investigated by the Marin County Sheriff's Office, the coroner's office, San Rafael police and the California Community Care Licensing Division.
