Oakland Officers To Give Teddy Bear To Boy They Delivered

OAKLAND (CBS / AP) -- Three Oakland police officers who helped deliver a baby boy over the weekend are assigned to a different type of delivery duty on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said after Officers Sean Bowling, Jeff Cid and Charles Stone were flagged down by a man Friday evening who said his wife was in labor in the family car, the officers called for medical aid. But before paramedics arrived, the three officers helped deliver a healthy baby boy, weighing 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

Officer Johnna Watson said the three officers will deliver an Oakland police teddy bear to the baby—named Knowland—Tuesday afternoon.

The family decided on the name for their baby in honor of Knowland Park, a park not far from where he was born.
