At Least 1 Dead After Car Plunges Off Of Mt. Hamilton

MT HAMILTON (CBS SF) - At least person is dead after a car plunged off a rural roadway on Mount Hamilton Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The solo-vehicle accident was reported at 12:08 p.m. on Mount Hamilton Road just south of the Lick Observatory, which is at the mountain's summit.

A car had gone over the edge of the roadway, and at least one person was trapped inside, according to the CHP.

The coroner was called to the scene around 1:30 p.m.
