Concord Man Accused Of Stealing Christmas Presents Outside Home

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A 39-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of stealing Christmas presents from in front of a Concord home earlier this week, police said.

Daniel Price, a Concord resident, was arrested after the report of the theft Monday of a package that contained the intended Christmas gifts outside the home, police said.

The victim had video surveillance footage of the theft that was handed over to investigators, who two days later identified Price as the alleged thief, police said.

Early Thursday morning, Pittsburg police arrested Price for allegedly siphoning gasoline, and Concord police soon served him with the arrest warrant for the package theft.

Later in the morning, detectives served a search warrant at Price's home in the 2600 block of Crystal Avenue, where the stolen property was found as well as other evidence linking Price to the crime, according to police.

Detectives are working to get the stolen property returned to the victims prior to Christmas on Tuesday, police said.

Price was booked into jail on suspicion of petty theft and possession of stolen property.
