A's Reportedly Staying In Oakland For 5 More Years

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - The Oakland Athletics have reportedly pushed back plans to relocate to the South Bay until 2018.

According to a Los Angeles Times report, A's Owner Lew Wolff has asked the management of the Oakland Coliseum for permission to extend the team's stay in Oakland for the next five years.

The franchise's current lease is set to expire after next season.

The team has been waiting for close to four years for Major League Baseball to rule on their ability to move to the South Bay, an area currently designated as San Francisco Giants turf.

In an open letter to Coliseum management, Wolff wrote, "I believe the A's have a great deal to contribute to the area for the next five years, and even thereafter."
