NorCal Doctor's Assistant Charged With Kidnapping, Raping Women

CHICO (CBS/AP) -- A Northern California physician's assistant is facing kidnapping and rape charges in connection with attacks on two women who were injected with a substance that made them drowsy and had their hands and feet bound.

Chico police say 40-year-old Lonnie Scott Keith was arrested over the weekend following a traffic stop near the Chico State campus.

A search of the sedan allegedly turned up two syringes containing an unknown substance, vials of prescription drugs, rubber gloves and metal handcuffs and restraints.

Police also say windows in the vehicle were partially covered with blankets and bedding.

Keith pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to charges of rape, assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of kidnapping. The charges stem from attacks in the area in September and October 2012.
