Teen Boy Shot While Protecting Sister From Gunfire In Vallejo

VALLEJO (CBS/SF) - A teenage boy was shot in the leg while he tried to help his sister into their Vallejo apartment to get away from several suspects who were shooting at another person on the street Monday night, a police sergeant said.

The shooting happened on Alabama Street at about 8 p.m., Sgt. Kelly Schroeder said.

The 15-year-old victim was taken to North Bay Medical Center in Fairfield and is expected to survive his injuries.

The group of suspects were possibly firing from another person standing about 100 feet from the boy and his sister. The boy tried to rush his sister inside, but in the process was struck by gunfire.

No suspects were in custody and it was unclear how many shooters were there. Four shell casings were found at the scene, Schroeder said.
