Exhausted Swimmer Rescued From Bay Near Albany

ALBANY (CBS SF) -- The U.S. Coast Guard rescued an exhausted swimmer in the waters near Albany on Thursday afternoon.

About 2 p.m., a Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew responded to a report of a distressed man swimming about five miles west of the Albany waterfront.

Upon arriving in the area, the helicopter rescue team located the wetsuit-clad swimmer struggling against the outgoing current.

The rescue crew assisted the swimmer and hoisted him out of the water.

The swimmer was transported to the U.S. Coast Guard station in San Francisco, where San Francisco Fire Department crews treated him for exhaustion and dehydration, according to Coast Guard officials.
