Gas Leak In Los Gatos Temporarily Shuts Down Highway 9

LOS GATOS (CBS SF)— Both directions of state Highway 9 were closed at North Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos Thursday morning as crews worked to repair a ruptured gas line.

PG&E crews responded to a report of a gas leak around 10:40 a.m. at 400 N. Santa Cruz Ave., PG&E spokesman Jason King said.

Los Gatos police and fire crews responded to the area and set up a perimeter, King said.

Employees at the Bank of America at 333 N. Santa Cruz Ave. were evacuated as a precaution, King said.

The leak has been capped and the area is safe, King said. The highway has since reopened.

The cause of the rupture is unknown, King said.
