Mill Valley Woman Pleads Guilty To Stealing Huey Lewis' Car

MILL VALLEY (CBS SF) - A woman has reached a plea deal in connection with the theft of a rental car and laptop computer belonging to Huey Lewis, frontman for the band Huey Lewis and the news.

Lewis, who now lives in Montana after residing in Marin County for years, left his rented Toyota Corolla idling outside the Holiday Inn Express as he ran into the lobby after a February stay. When he returned, the car and computer were missing, according to a Marin Independent Journal account.

The IJ reports that the car was recovered by CHP and a sheriff's deputy spotted transient Katherine Bowyer Gallagher driving it four days later. The computer was not found.

Gallagher took a plea deal for possession of stolen property. Vehicle theft charges were dropped. She is due for sentencing on May 15th, but is expected to be released on time already served.
