Man Arrested For Sparking Fire By Mixing Chemicals In Treasure Island Home

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— San Francisco Police arrested a man who was allegedly trying to mix cleaning chemicals that sparked a two-alarm fire in his home on Treasure Island early Sunday morning.

According to police, the fire was reported shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Sturgeon Street.

The man, Chad Ingram, 29, "was mixing chemicals to see if they would burn," police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said. "Obviously, it worked."

Ingram was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of unlawfully causing a fire, Shyy said.

No one was injured in the blaze, which was contained to the home where it started and was extinguished by about 4:25 a.m., fire officials said.
