3 Bodies Pulled From Water After SUV Crash Near Stockton

STOCKTON (CBS/AP) -- San Joaquin County Sheriff's officials are searching a waterway west of Stockton where an SUV crashed over the weekend.

California Highway Patrol Officer James Smith says rescuers have so far recovered three bodies from the slough, including two on Monday. But it's possible there could be more bodies in the water.

The 2002 Chevrolet went off the roadway, down a levee and into the waterway around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and the victims have not been identified.

The CHP received a call later that morning. Smith says no one was inside the SUV when it was pulled from the water.
