Man Fatally Stabbed In West San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A man was fatally stabbed Friday night in San Jose near the city's popular Santana Row entertainment district.

The suspect remains at large.

Officers on Friday found a 35-year-old man lying suffering from stab wounds in a carport shortly before 10 p.m.

Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

This was the city's fifth homicide this week. Two teens were gunned down near Independence High School and a man was fatally shot in separate incidents on Sunday. Another man was killed during an early-morning shooting on Thursday.

Friday's slaying also brought San Jose's homicide count to 21 this year and has put the city on pace to surpass the 46 homicides in 2012, the highest total in 20 years.
