Daily Madden: Mariucci Readies For Bocce Showdown

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Former 49ers coach and NFL analyst Steve Mariucci is promising a better showing for his team at Wednesday's Madden-Mariucci Battle of the Bay Charity Bocce Tournament.

"I'd do just about anything to win this thing again," Mariucci told John Madden and the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I practiced hard, John, hard. My legs are still sore."

Mariucci said he was motivated by John's comments on the air Friday that Mariucci looked lost trying to find his car in a parking lot after bocce practice last week.

Mariucci: "It's on, believe me John, it's on, because you were trying to make fun of me again, weren't you?"

Madden: "I'm just worried about your focus, because it was a small parking lot, it was like two in the afternoon, and there weren't a lot of cars there."

Mariucci: "He was laughing at me, and I knew darn well this was going to become public knowledge."

Madden: "Yeah, the last words you said before you left the parking lot were 'don't tell anyone, okay?'"

Mariucci: "And you agreed."

Madden: "I think I did agree. I had my fingers crossed." (8:20)
