2 San Jose Businesses Damaged In Industrial Park Fire

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — Two businesses were damaged by a two-alarm fire at an industrial park in San Jose overnight, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

At 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters were dispatched to a fire burning at two businesses in a concrete industrial building at 664 King Road, fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said.

Firefighters observed flames coming from an upholstery business and an auto repair shop, with black smoke billowing from the roof, Van Elgort said.

The crew had to cut through roll-up doors to enter the two units, and doused the fire by 12:10 a.m., Van Elgort said.

No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, Van Elgort said.

Van Elgort said it was "sort of unusual to have a fire inside a commercial business" at that time of night when no one was around.

However, firefighters found no evidence of foul play, he added.
