Daily Madden: Raiders Rally Past the Cowboys
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - John Madden's weekend got off to a good start, watching the Raiders' win in their exhibition opener Friday night.
"You know, any time you're kind of starting a new program the way the Raiders are and new coach, general manager...it's easy to say that preseason doesn't mean a lot and all that and wins don't mean a lot, but I think when you're in a situation the Raiders are, that wins do mean something," John told the KCBS morning crew. "You just kind of have to show that you're on the right track and I think beating the Dallas Cowboys and, although it's still the first game of preseason, I understand that, but I still think that was pretty good for the Raiders."
Daily Madden: Raiders Rally Past the Cowboys
The Raiders rallied past the Cowboys for a 19-17 victory, and it wasn't just the final score that Madden liked. He was impressed with a lot more that he saw happening.
"Just the attitude and the energy of the players, I thought that you can't really evaluate the team and say that the Raiders are better than the Cowboys. I wouldn't say that, but I will say this, in just checking energy that the Raider team as a group, and the group's 90 players, had a lot more energy. I thought that the Cowboys were, didn't have a lot of energy. I thought that they were kind of slow and they looked tired."
