San Rafael Minor League Baseball Team Offers Chance To Win 'Very Own Funeral'

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) - The San Rafael Pacifics minor league baseball team is offering a once in a lifetime promotion to fans who are planning ahead for their final arrangements.

The Pacifics are wrapping up their 2nd season a charter franchise of the 4-team Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs, and the team has lined up some unique promotions for the playoff push.

"In the words of the immortal Yogi Berra, "it ain't over 'til it's over." On, Friday, Aug. 23 the Pacifics will host Funeral Night presented by Mt. Tam Mortuary. Fans will be able to submit a 200-word obituary of themselves and the winning obituary will win their very own funeral," reads the company website.

No further details about what was included in the funeral package were immediately available. People interested in submitting an obituary are asked to email the Pacifics by Aug. 18th.

Tickets for the contest can be purchased online.

The Pacifics play their home games at the 1,200 seat Albert Park diamond. Among other promotions this month are a night with the Soup Nazi of Seinfield fame and Bill "Spaceman" Lee bobble-head day.
