Injury Report For Week 2 Is No Problem For The Oakland Raiders

By JL Herrera

The Oakland Raiders are headed into Week 2 of the NFL season to face the Jacksonville Jaguars with the same injury problems that they had in the first week.

Left tackle Jared Veldheer will be out for most of the season, who was a huge role player in the offensive line. Since then, the Raiders have been looking for someone to replace.

The choice was Menelik Watson, but he got hurt before the season started. Watson just underwent knee surgery and will be out for about a month.

No problem! The Oakland Raiders had already found a replacement for the left tackle position, and he did a swell job against the Colts. Khalif Barnes did a decent job against the Indianapolis Colts and is expected to start as left tackle against the Jaguars.

Still, the left tackle is an issue that will remain with the Oakland Raiders since Khalif Barnes is new at it. Anything that could go wrong on the field regarding that position will be held against the Raiders.

Once Watson is done healing, he could come back and take over the left tackle position, or he could back to the right tackle where he usually plays, if, and only if, Barnes does an outstanding job.

For this weekend against the Jaguars, Khalif Barnes should be OK at left tackle. The Jaguars defensive line is young and inexperienced.

Jacksonville's best defensive performance in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs was their ability to stop Jamaal Charles rushing to 77 yards. Not bad, but, that was it for the Jaguars defense as they lost badly.

The Rest of the Injured

There were other Raiders who did not practice on Wednesday. Tight end David Ausberry was out with a shoulder injury with no reports if he will play or not this weekend.

Also, safety Tyvon Branch did not practice due to a shoulder injury. Again, no reports whether he will participate against the Jaguars.

Last but not least, kicker Sebastian Janikowski did not practice on Wednesday due to a calf injury. Coach Dennis Allen told the media that Janikowski was resting the injury and that he will be kicking on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Injury List

Probable:

Safety Tyvon Branch (shoulder)
Kicker Sebastian Janikowski (calf)

Doubtful:

Tight end David Ausberry (shoulder)

Out:

Left tackle Menelik Watson (knee)
