
SALINAS (CBS SF) — A 22-year-old exchange student from Australia suffered a severe injury to her foot in a hit-and-run accident Monday morning in Salinas, police said.
The woman, who is not being identified, was riding her bicycle northbound on Bardin Road near Sconeberg Parkway at about 8:50 a.m. when she was hit from behind by a pickup truck, police said.

The driver drove away from the accident scene, heading north on Bardin, police said.

She also suffered a contusion on her left hip and scrapes on her elbow, police said. She was transported to a hospital where doctors were attempting to save her foot.
