Poll Finds Only 5 Percent Of Oakland Voters Likely To Re-Elect Quan

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) - Nearly half in a poll of 500 likely voters say they would definitely not re-elect Oakland Mayor Jean Quan to a second term.

According to the poll released by the Oakland Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, only 5 percent said they would definitely vote for Quan again. About 77 percent said Quan is doing only a fair or poor job.

The poll also says nearly 70 percent of those polled said crime is the worst issue about living in Oakland as city government came in a distant second.

About 27 percent of respondents said Oakland is heading in the right direction, while 55 percent polled said they feel less safe in the city.

Quan said in a statement that she is determined to make the city safer as public safety remains her top priority.
