SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – A small plane made an emergency landing on a busy street in San Jose during morning rush hour Thursday. according to fire officials.

The landing happened just after 8:00 a.m. along Capitol Expressway at Quimby Road is just south of San Jose’s Reid-Hillview Airport.

San Jose Police Sgt. Heather Randol said a pilot and a flight school student were aboard the the Bellanca 7ECA fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft.

Neither was hurt, no was anyone injured on the ground, according to police.

The plane managed to avoid vehicles and power lines and pull into a right turn lane. Traffic was backed up in the area as a police and airport officials investigated.

The plane is owned by Amelia Reid Aviation LLC, a company that operates a flight training school out of nearby Reid Hillview airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

A woman who answered the phone at the school, now called AeroDynamic Aviation, said they had no comment.
