SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The death of a baby boy who was brought to San Francisco General Hospital early Tuesday morning was considered suspicious, and investigators are trying to determine what led to the tragedy, a police spokesman said.

The 7-month-old infant's mother and another family member brought him to the hospital at about 12:30 a.m., and he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the death or released any information about why it is considered suspicious.

Police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said the car used to take the infant to the hospital has been confiscated as part of the investigation.  Police have also searched the house the baby was at in the 100 block of Monterey Boulevard and have interviewed family members.

The names of the boy and mother have not yet been released.
