Man Arrested In Connection With Armed Robbery At CVS In Salinas

SALINAS (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in Salinas on Friday night.

At about 9:10 p.m. Salinas police received a report of an armed robbery in progress at a CVS Pharmacy located at 1140 S. Main St., near West San Joaquin Street.

Witnesses told police that a white male with a large knife was robbing the pharmacy inside of the store.

As Officers arrived at the CVS Pharmacy, the suspect was seen inside a vehicle pulling away from the curb on West San Joaquin Street, according to police.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver, who was later identified as Adam Venuti, 34, sped away in an attempt to evade officers.

Venuti drove for a short distance and then collided with a vehicle parked nearby. Venuti's vehicle then stalled and he attempted to flee the area on foot. He was captured by officers and arrested, police said.

Venuti will be booked at the Monterey County Jail for armed robbery and other associated crimes, police said.
